About Me

Dr. Probal Mojumder currently serves as an Associate Professor of Information Systems at the Indian Institute of Management Udaipur (IIMU). He is also the Chairperson of IIMU's PhD Program.

Prior to his tenure at IIMU, Probal served as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles, from 2018 to 2019. He also held the role of Research Associate at the Srini Raju Centre for Information Technology and the Networked Economy (SRITNE) at the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad, from 2010 to 2012.

His research encompasses diverse business and societal inquiries, utilizing methodologies such as data science, machine learning, econometrics, and randomized experiments. Probal focuses on investigating the impact of IT-artifacts on digital and physical platforms, with a particular emphasis on addressing societal issues. His studies have delved into the effects of specific IT-enabled features in areas such as online dating platforms, e-commerce portals, online classified-ad sites, and X (formerly known as Twitter).

Probal's research findings have been published in prestigious international academic journals, including Management Science (MS), Information Systems Research (ISR), and Production and Operations Management (POM). Additionally, he has presented his work at renowned international conferences, such as the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), Conference on Digital Experimentation (CODE) at MIT, Workshop on Information Systems and Economics (WISE), INFORMS Conference on Information Systems and Technology (CIST), Winter Conference on Business Analytics (WCBA), Industry Studies Conference (ISC), Workshop on Statistical Challenges in E-Commerce Research (SCECR), and the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management (APPAM) Fall Research Conference. Probal earned his Bachelors in Economics (with Honors) from Bidhannagar College, University of Calcutta, in 2008, and his Masters in Quantitative Economics (MSQE) from the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) Kolkata in 2010. In 2018, he obtained his doctoral degree in Business Administration (Information Systems track) from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
